A recent report looks at exactly how businesses are using the cloud, and how they feel about the performance of their cloud services.

Not surprising there have been some businesses which have migrated to the cloud with impressive results.

On the whole it appears that not all businesses are trusting the cloud for all of their needs even though the technology is now ten years old.

Benefits of cloud computing for the business

Generally, it seems that businesses migrate to the cloud to take advantage of reduced operational costs. And indeed, 47% of respondents confirmed that reduced capital investment is the major benefit of cloud-based platforms. However, with an overwhelming result of 62%, scalability and flexibility won the race of most prominent cloud computing benefits.

Future spending predictions

Building on the general trend of increased shares of IT budget going to cloud services – it is only going to increase in the future. Over half of the respondents mentioned that 30-50% of IT budget will be dedicated to the cloud in the future. Another 27% forecast that more than half of their IT budget will be relocated to cloud services.
